The Orion Nebula M 36 YM 37
This month we have a good opportunity to see first thing in the night one of the most spectacular constellations like Orion nuesetros skies. It is the brightest nebula and affordable for small instruments, even from town, M 42 or NGC 1980.
With direct vision and can see the haze, but if we use peripheral vision we see a further extension, similar to that reflected in the drawing. Inside M 42 highlights the multiple star Sigma Orionis than with the 10x50 I could not solve.
Al S. is the open cluster NGC 1980. You can see a dozen or blue color components of white, highlighting two of them bright blue and very bright in the picture appear next to the arrow. A part of this group involves a nebulous but it is impossible to see with small instruments.
Al N. is another open cluster, NGC 1981, which is also very bright and larger than NGC 1980. Components are about 20 white and blue.
After making this drawing I made a tour of the area Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka, three very bright stars forming the blue belt of Orion and are known as "Las Tres Marias." The latter is a double star that can be resolved with binoculars.
Orion is located in an area full of very bright blue star, and very attractive to be observed at low magnification binoculars. I encourage you to take this opportunity to point to this constellation; sure you pass a good night.
